FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short and honest. If something's missing, write to us.
Does Mirino really cost just once?
Yes. Mirino costs a one-time $4.99. No subscription, no recurring charge, no hidden in-app purchases beyond that. Buy once, no follow-up costs.
Do I need an account?
No. You open the app and scan. No sign-up, no email, no login. Mirino asks for nothing it doesn't need.
Does Mirino work offline?
Yes. Scanning, OCR, PDF creation and export all run entirely on your device. Mirino needs no internet connection to work.
Where are my documents stored?
Locally on your device. Mirino runs no servers of its own and uploads nothing to us. You share your scans through the iOS share sheet to wherever you want — Files, Mail, AirDrop, anywhere.
You say “no servers” — what about iCloud sync?
Mirino has no servers of its own. Sync is optional and runs through your own iCloud between your Apple devices, encrypted in transit and at rest (Apple's iCloud standard). We operate nothing in between and never see your documents. If you don't turn sync on, everything stays local on the device.
Can I keep others from seeing my scans?
Yes. On iPhone and iPad you can optionally lock Mirino with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. On the Mac, your Mac login protects you. The lock is off by default; you turn it on in Settings.
Does Mirino have OCR and searchable PDFs?
Yes. Text recognition runs on the device and makes your scans searchable. Mirino suggests a file name from the recognised text. In the app you can also search the text of your scans. You can export that text as a Word file too.
How is Mirino different from Apple Notes?
Notes is a notebook with a scanner built in; scans can be signed there, and search finds text in scanned documents. Mirino is a scanner and nothing else: one tap from the widget, OCR PDFs, signature, password protection, automatic file names and a Mac app.
I'm coming from Microsoft Lens — what does Mirino offer?
Microsoft has retired Lens: since 9 March 2026 it can no longer create new scans. Mirino is the local alternative: documents stay on the device instead of OneDrive; plus image enhancement and the recognized text as a Word file (without layout).
Does Mirino run on iPad and Mac?
Yes. Mirino has a dedicated iPad layout and a native Mac app. You scan on iPhone or iPad; on the Mac you view your scans and drag them straight into other apps.
What languages is Mirino available in?
Twelve: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Polish, Korean, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified).
